OUR FAMILY HISTORY

Orval and Kathe come from a family of woodworkers going back to their grandfather who built the barn that sits today on the old homestead in Missouri on Turley Road. Our father built the house where we grew up in Dearborn Michigan, it is still in the family today. He built much of the furniture that we used and many of us still have most of it in our homes now.

As children we would help with woodworking projects such as the gluing as he worked.

Orval retired from Ford and decided to pursue his interest in wood and uses some of our father's tools as does Kathe. He makes quilt racks and mirrors but has now started turning.

He likes to take different woods and laminate them together to create a beautiful clock or vase.

Kathe started woodturning in 1990 and fell in love with it. She enjoys making the wine stoppers, making each one different and unique. She has also branched out to making pens, and handles for knives and more. She was asked to tape a show for DIY television "Tools & Techniques" with David Thiel. It aired in October of 2005.
